Basic concepts and representative texts for the study
of the form, function and development of the genre. The focus of this course
will be the contemporary political theatre. The playwrights that we will read
are Karel Capek, Bertolt Brecht, Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter, August Wilson,
Philip Gotanda, Tony Kushner, David Hare, Y York, and Alani Apio.
