Eco-Poetics
This course will explore one of the most important poetic movements of our time, Eco-Poetry, which is poetry about nature, wilderness, ecology, environmentalism, animals, and climate change.
As creative writers, we will write, workshop, and revise eco-poetry that addresses many themes related to nature, including oceans and marine life; land and deforestation; agriculture and food; plastic and garbage; pollution and toxins; disasters and extinction; and animals and non-human life.
This course will emphasize hands-on activities, and students will be required to participate in individual and group eco-poetic excursions, exercises, and performances.
