ENG 300B
Introduction to Rhetoric: Classical–Renaissance
Ethics Designation
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 12:00–1:15 PM
Before rhetoric was about argument, it was about the cosmos.
3000 years ago, rhetoric emerged from:
- cosmological ideas of balance and harmony
- questions of what it means to be human in relation to other animals and the cosmos
- language as world-making
In this course, students will explore these big questions through both scholarly and creative assignments.
Open to undergraduates of all majors. No prior experience in rhetoric required.
