English Major Pathway: Creative Writing
Course Description:
This course will explore one of the most important poetic movements of our time: Eco-Poetry. Part of this course will focus on reading and discussing poetry related to the environment. The other major component of this course will be to write our own original poetry about about nature, water, wilderness, ecology, environmental justice, animals, and climate change. Assignments will include poetry prompts, reading responses, creative writing workshops, revision, close-reading, and group discussion. We will be reading eco-poetry from Hawaiʻi, the Pacific Islands, Asia, and the United States.
