In this course, we will examine, think, talk, and
write about a wide range of “World Literature.” We will explore and engage with
these literatures for their literary value, their historical significance, and
their significant connection with other literatures. We will pay close
attention to themes such as identity, gender, race, ethics and religion,
revolution, resistance, and colonialism. In addition to emphasizing the value
of world literature as social-political-historical and cross-cultural, we will
explore various tools, terms and techniques of literary study such as close
reading and other textual modes that allow both critical and creative
perspectives.
