Types of Creative Writing: Nonlinear Narratives

In
this class, we will explore ideas about story structure and variations on
“beginning, middle, and end”—reading and writing prose told in nontraditional,
nonlinear forms, and discuss the relationship between form and content. How
does the shape of a story help imply or underline its meaning?

We
will read selection in both fiction and nonfiction. Students will be assigned creative
writing exercises in which they will explore using various narrative
structures. Students will also write 1-2 critical essays about the readings.
