Much instruction given in poetic forms and lyrics composition. Student work is paramount: the course features line edits and critique sessions of your manuscripts displayed on overhead projector. Study groups will be assigned. No texts to buy; but there are handouts and electronic copies to read. All 313 students will be invited to attend (optional) the guest lectures in Eng. 411 from some of the leading singer/songwriters of Hawaii.
Course Requirements
- Attendance and participation (you may recite lyrics or have others sing your songs if you’re scared)
- Peer-editing/workshopping
- Final submission of poetry and lyrics portfolio, and presentation of songs.
