Composition I

ENG 100 Composition I (3): Introduction to the rhetorical, conceptual, and stylistic demands of writing at the university level; instruction in composing processes, search strategies, and writing from sources.

This course is taught online, asynchronously. This course will require students to plan ahead and be self-motivated. While the course is taught asynchronously, there will be set deadlines for reading responses, online discussions, and assignments. 

We will consider literature and “texts” in various formats, including fiction, non-fiction, memoir, graphic novel, and visual texts (e.g., film). 

Major assignments include:

  • Personal Narrative
  • Annotated Bibliography
  • Rhetorical Analysis 
  • Research-based, argumentative essay
