Composition I

Aloha!

The six week summer course is fast paced and requires attention to details, time management, preparation, staying current with assignments, following instructions and feedback carefully, and a positive attitude in order to earn the highest possible grade. Please make sure you are up to the demands of this summer course.

  • Student will be required to submit four academic essays done in the Modern Language Association (MLA) Style that will total 5,000+ words (UH Policy).
  • There will be weekly assignments (quizzes, readings, videos, discussion posts) related to each writing assignment that need to be submitted by the due dates.
  • Please note that there is a No Late Work and No Make Up Work policy for this course.
  • The four major essay topics are: Community, Descriptive, Evaluation, and Position/Argumentative.
  • The workload may seem like a lot, but rest assured that it is certainly doable and many students have been successful in past summer sessions.
  • At the end of this summer course you will have a solid understanding and proficiency with academic writing, the MLA, research methods, and avoiding plagiarism.

I look forward to working with you!

Mahalo,
