What can you do with a degree in English? More than you think.
A degree in English keeps your career options open by teaching you to perform research, build an argument, think analytically, read closely, write concisely, and communicate effectively — skills that you can then transfer to specialized training in graduate school or the workplace. Our English majors have gone on to a variety of graduate programs including law, education, medicine, ethnic studies and, of course, English. Others have gone straight into the workforce to work in media, academic counseling, educational administration, public relations, teaching abroad, public service and politics.
