In this introductory
composition course we will practice the art of writing university level prose.
Whether we’re composing personal narratives or analytical essays, the rules of
the game are fundamentally similar: dynamic and coherent sentence writing, good
command of structure, and the ability to integrate external sources. We will study
grammar, strategize the organizations of words/sentences/paragraphs, peer edit,
and read extensively. Students are expected to read as writers, always
taking note of what makes prose effective and engaging.
